Always move forward

We often let our moods dictate our actions. Thoughts like “I’m too tired” or “I’m really not up to it today” are pervasive in our lives…especially with all the additional stress of the unknown that is currently present.

Part of reprogramming your mind for success is not to magically ignore those thoughts, because that becomes a fool’s errand. Those thoughts will exist and are often not even under your control. They can override your mood and impact your will to move forward. Rather than attempting to ignore those thoughts, which is nearly impossible, you can accept that they exist and continue forward anyway.

The easiest way to move forward, even in the face of thoughts that are weighing you down, is to pick one simple thing you can do today. Pick something that will move you towards one of your goals and do that thing. Really focus on the activity you choose and, if the negativity creeps in, shake it off and refocus on what you are doing. Then, when you have accomplished your simple task, check it off your list and enjoy the sense of accomplishment.

Is this enough to change your life? Yes, it is. Most people don’t realize just how much the little things we do each day to take one simple step forward can lead to changing our lives over time.

It’s always a choice between letting our moods affect our activities and letting our activities change our mood. If you make the choice to allow negative thoughts to overwhelm you, it will continue to negatively impact your life. Why not make a different choice? It could make all the difference.
