Honor those who paved the way
Sometimes we can’t find the strength to forge ahead. We might have reached a point that we can’t rely on the inspirational sayings that typically motivate us. Remembering all our previous accomplishments doesn’t work. Even pulling out the list of all the times we’ve faced and overcome struggles doesn’t give us new strength. What do we do?
When we can’t do it for ourselves, we can do it for someone else. When you get into a funk or are stuck in a rut, you can dig yourself out by stepping outside of yourself. Shift your focus. Remember, there are people that paved the way for you and have given you the opportunities you have. There are parents, teachers, mentors…people who believed in you. Someone sacrificed their time and effort to get you to where you are. If you can’t do it for yourself, do it for them. Honoring them by moving forward when you have no strength becomes your fuel.
We have many roadblocks in life, no matter who we are or how successful we have become. When you can’t get past your roadblocks using all the tricks at your disposal, you might need a new trick. I don’t typically believe in life hacks because they are often shortcuts instead of solutions. However, the mind is so complex that we sometimes need something that will jumpstart our system. If you ever find yourself completely stuck in the mud, get your strength from someone who believed in you before you believed in yourself. It might be the simple hack you need.
