Be thankful for your obstacles
A life without pain is a life without growth. The young weak sapling only grows into a tree because it first breaks the surface of the earth. So many seeds never reach their potential because they aren’t strong enough to even make it to the surface. But, once they do, they stand a chance. Yet, they may still never grow to the heights they could.
You need a larger vision
Why use the analogy of a plant? Because it’s a simple way to illustrate a key point. Most of us understand that we limit the size of a plant based upon the size of the container we plant it in. If you want a bigger plant, use a bigger container. Simple. Along with the bigger container, you will also need more water and more supplements. However, if you follow a watering routine with just enough water and provide the proper nutrients, the tree can grow to reach its full potential…based on the size of its container.
But, what if you take the tree out of the container and plant it in the ground with unlimited space to grow. This is when it reaches its true potential. The container that holds it will no longer define the size to which it will grow. It’s free to reach its limits.
What are your limits?
Like a tree that is planted in a small container, we have limits. The unfortunate part is that they are most often limits that we place on ourselves. Unlike a tree, we have no one to blame for our small container. The caretaker planting the tree decides the size of the container, the watering schedule and the supplements the tree receives. We, on the other hand, are our own caretakers. We can change the size of our container.
Our limits stand in the way of our success. We must shift our mindset and come to understand that our limits are there for us to overcome. Limits are our container, and if we can grow strong enough to break out of that container we can achieve limitless greatness. We must look upon our challenges as temporary containers that hold us back. If we truly want to reach our potential, we must choose to live in a larger container. The size of our container is based upon our effort to break free from it and live in a limitless space. If you want to reach your ultimate level of success, focus on getting strong enough to break out of your container.
